Purpose Statement
 

The purpose of school-wide behavior expectations at Harriet Tubman Middle School is to provide a safe, positive and orderly environment conducive to academic, social and character development for our students in a warm and responsive environment. This environment must be free from disruptions, which interfere with the educational program. Our democratic process demands that we not only protect the rights of those students who may have been disruptive, but that we equally protect the rights of students who are on task consistently and engaged in learning. We view discipline as another learning opportunity, stressing prevention and intervention.

Expectations for all students in Tubman shall be designated to promote behavioral changes enabling students to function successfully.

Due process is ensured to students as part of a major suspension informal hearing procedure, expulsion procedures, and for alcohol and drug violations.

  • Show respect for yourself, others, and property
  • Be responsible for your behavior
  • Cooperate with others Put forth your best effort
  • Solve conflicts and problems in a constructive manner
  • Be actively involved in and committed to your learning
  • Be on time
  • Attend school every day
  • Remain on school grounds at all times
  • Bring all needed materials
